About Steph

Life is full of all the little things we love and I wanted a place where I could share my love of writing, reading, wildcrafting, geek girl moments, graphic design, handcrafting, and homesteading successes and failures with like minded people. Which really is just a fancy way of saying that I couldn’t decide on a skill set to focus on, so I choose to talk about them all.

Welcome to my corner of the webverse! My name is Stephannie Beman. I often tell people that I was once a city girl who decided an adventure in the country would be lots of fun. I planned to stay a week, or maybe even two, and just never left.

I took a chance that day, not knowing if it would work for me or blow up in my face, and left my home to visit my boyfriend in Wyoming. I didn’t know if it was the right choice at the time, but it felt right and I’m glad that I did it. Not only did I fall in love with him, I married him and we had two adorable girls. I also fell in love with the land where he lived, the simple lifestyle of by-gone days he enjoyed, the 100-year-old homestead cabin of hand-hewn logs he called home, and the wood cookstove that I miss now that we live in a more modern home. I thrived in a life I never imagined living or thought possible.

Over the years I’ve dabbled in the mystic arts of fiction writing, graphic design, handcrafting in various mediums and styles, ranching, wildcrafting, and homesteading. I’ve even talked about it here and I plan to talk about it even more now.

These days my time is spent mostly with my family, working on the ranch beside the love of my life and our rambunctious minions, reading indie fiction, writing stories I love to tell, wandering the land collecting old objects and crafting materials, and handcrafting new items using the skills I learned in my youth as well as new crafting skills I’ve learned over the last 15+ years here.

I love filling our home with beautiful and unique antiques and handmade items, but my home is only so big and there are only so many things I can collect and create before it starts pouring out of the closets and I have to explain to my wonderful hubby and adorable children why I need their closet spaces too – which is why I opened my Etsy shop and filled the virtual shelves with all the things I love to create and thought others might love in their homes and lives too.

Stephannie Beman’s Shop

We’re an independent mama (& occasionally her 2 minions) run shop that seeks to honor our past, nature, and creative self-expression by creating useful, eco-friendly items that are inspired by the simple beauty, quality, and practicality of the homesteading spirit that is very much a part of our lives on the Ranch where we live! Most of what we offer are handcrafted items, vintage finds, upcycled rescues, found items, fun craft patterns, and printables. Our hope is to create a product that you can LOVE for years to come! Because we want what you buy to last!

Please don’t hesitate to message me for details about CUSTOM DESIGNS, because I love creating new things for people. Nothing excites me more then the idea that I might be able to create something you want and will love!

Opening this shop in 2019 wasn’t just an excuse to buy more crafting supplies or as an outlet for my creative pursuits, although that is what I keep telling people. This shop is a tribute to the family, friends, and even the strangers that I have met over the years who took the time to teach a teenager how to sew by hand, to weave baskets from willow branches and cattails, to knap obsidian arrowheads, to crochet wash cloths and hot pads, to make brooms, to wire wrap stones and make jewelry, to card and spin wool, to create stain glass windows, to carve art from pieces of wood, to quilt on a treadle sewing machine, to alter and sew clothing, and so much more. This shop is my way of giving back to those who help me. My way of sharing what they taught me with awesome people like you!

Learning to create items by hand became a mission, a lifesaver, and a way to keep me out of trouble. And while this shop started out as a mama run business, as of mid-2020 my two girls, Tiny Trin and Miss Kiara, have taken an interest in adding their creativity to the shop. This opportunity has given me time to teach them that the skills that I have learned, to learn new crafting techniques they wish to focus on, and spend time together.

It is my goal to create high quality, sustainable, eco-friendly products that honor creative self-expression and the simple beauty of by-gone years. Items to freshen your living space, to add a splash of magic and a dash whimsy to your wardrobe and your home, to honor the past we came from and the present we are living in, and to inspire your creativity and productiveness with printables for your home, business, and hobbies. All the items in our shop are handcrafted, vintage finds, collected from nature, upcycled rescues & found objects, and printables that are designed to brighten your day, build the life that you love, or spark joy in your lives and home. Items that we hope you will love for years to come, because we want what you buy to last!

Stephannie Beman, Writer

Once upon a time there was a girl who traveled through dangerous lands, distant times, and the dark of space. She stumbled her way through magical quests, joined a few deadly missions, battled some nasty villains, stumbled into the center of more than a few dark secret that threaten worlds, struggled with some inner demons, and even defeated an evil overlord or two.

Later in life, she settled down with her husband in a little house tucked away in the haunted woods to write about the worlds she explored and the adventures she had, even if most of them are only in her head. Stephannie Beman is a writer who spends far too much time weaving tales about characters who plunge head-first into adventure, mayhem, and love. And while romance sometimes finds its way into these stories, they are first and foremost Urban Fantasy, Fantasy, and Science Fiction (although light on the science).

Writing fiction has always been a dream of mine and as a child I loved reading and telling friends my latest story idea while in the lunch line at school. In 2010, I published my first book, deciding to go the indie route since it worked with my lifestyle. Between 2010 and 2014, I published a total of 10 stories, although only two of them are still in print. In time I might republish the others.

When 2014 came around, I made the decision to take a break from writing for numerous reasons that I’ve talked about in my blog. I haven’t given up on my writing dream and from time to time I work on my writing-in-progress.
