{Writing Journal} Day 3: Snippets from The Rebel’s Bride

After my doctor appointment and cleaning house today, I had a few hours to write before the kids got home from school. I’m still working on typing up my notecard outline of the story into a document, and writing whatever comes to mind as I go so today’s word count is a rough estimate of about 2,251 words which puts me at around one-third of the way done with the story. Yipee!

Mina stared up at Cynel, her brain unable to form coherent thought as her eyes drank every minute detail of the man before her. He stood in the shadows of the trees, cloaked in growing darkness, dressed in the leathers of the hunter and warrior he was. His eyes nearly glowed, giving him the appearance of a feral creature, untamed and dangerous. But it was the raw hunger in his face that stole her breath.

In this moment, he was wild predator, and she was his prey.

She rose from her place beside the fire and stomped after the obstinate man. He needed to understand.

Cynel turned and frowned down at her. “I promise not to touch you again, my Lady.”

“Mina,” she said, grabbing his arm when he would have turned from her. “It wasn’t…I just…” She grunted, glaring up at him. This was impossible. She couldn’t talk to him like this. “I need to see you.”

His confusion deepened. “I’m right here.”

She shook her head, wrapping her arms around herself. “Not the Angeloi you. He reminds me…” She shivered. “I need to see you, Cynel.”

She needed to see her Nyfeli. He made her feel safe. The Angeloi glamour he wore only made her think of the Hunters he’d killed earlier.
