{Working Notes 32} Not Working at Home Today

Around the first of 2015, I decided to do something different with my blog in the hopes of helping my productivity and keep me accountable by tracking my days, kind of like the online work journal/blog. It’s been an off and on affair. Now that I have more time, I’m ready to return to the challenge of consistent blogging.

Wish I could say I got more done yesterday then I did. I spent most of yesterday working on a client’s book cover design and let him know that I did get the payment. Then an unexpected visitor popped in to visit. She was here the rest of an interesting and enlightening afternoon.

I know today isn’t going to be better.

Woke up with Hubby and felt like 4:30 am was too early to be awake. Since I’ve been up with hubby at 12pm when he gets called out in the winter and even 2am when he’s on the morning shift, 4am isn’t too bad most days. However, I slept terribly last night. I had this feeling that someone was watching me sleep, which is very creepy and not very conducive to a good night sleeping.

I wish I could blame it on some scary movie I watched that night, but due to my friend’s visit, the only thing I saw on TV was one of those “watch how we survive in the jungles/tundras/deserts of the world on that slim chance that you too might be lost in one of these places and need to survive it, and actually remember what I’m teaching you” shows. It’s sad that I can’t even remember if he was in a jungle, tundra, or desert. Although Alaska keeps coming to mind. It could have been a commercial.

Anyhoo, after my morning walk and daily visit to the cabin, I unpacked a few more boxes of things I finally brought over Tuesday before the kids woke and breakfast needed to be fixed. They decided that they’d forgo Ebelskiver (which are round Danish pancakes and this link will take you to the Google image search of them for the curious), Homemade Blueberry Muffins (since I used the last box of the mix two weeks ago and still contemplating whether or not to buy more), cold cereal (which they only eat during school time because breakfast on a schedule was almost never worked out), or Cinnamon flapjacks. They’re on a “I want to make my own meals” kick for the last two weeks and decided that Blueberry Bagels slathered in butter and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar sound good.

Now I’m at my desk in the corner of the living room, writing this post before I head out for the day. During the Summer time, Thursdays are reserved for a visit to the library, the park so the kids can play with other children, the bank if I have too, and to the store to shop if we need some items. It makes for a long, unproductive day, but it’s good for the kids and so I endure. 😀

~ Working outside the Office ~

Today I’ll take some of my work with me. I thought about bringing my laptop, but after realizing yesterday that I have only one week left in my homemade planner, I decided I better get my butt in gear and make myself a new one like the one I patterned after Kyla Roma’s moleskin notebook planner. I would buy one, but all the ones I’ve found so far don’t have enough space, too much space, sections for things I don’t need, or don’t fit in my purse (which is amazing to me since I used the damn thing as a diaper bag and it can fit a ton of stuff), and the ones I’ve tried to create on the Laptop become cumbersome and annoying really fast.

So I picked out a notebook out of the notebooks I hoard that are waiting to find their purpose and I’ll start setting up my new planner. I’m also going to bring My Lord Hades with me to work on. There are some minor fixes that my mom marked in her edition of the book and sent me that I need to go over before I input the corrections and contact the copy-editor and proofreader I want to have go over it. I’m hoping they can catch anything else that my beta readers, the editor, the proofreader, awesome readers, and I’ve missed over the years.

Well, it’s time for me to go. Have a great day!
