{Working Notes 1} All the Lovely Things I’m Doing

It’s 6 AM and I’m writing this now for two reasons: 1) I’m inspired and 2) I’m sick with a cold that is kicking my ass and I’m not sure when my energy will hit low. With how I’m feeling right now I’d say that will be in the next 2 hours and I have a lot of tasks due before than. Now onto the updates.

What’s happening with The Book Shop

The Book Shop is the store I want to set up on my website for you to buy my books. I’ve been researching the best way to do this from open source plugins and shopping carts to paid shopping carts and plugins to an e-junkie.com account. As of yet I’m not sure what would be the more secure and cost effective option. They all have pros and cons that I’m not particularly comfortable with. My biggest problem being is that I like everything in one place.

The more sites I have open the harder it is for me to update. Right now I’m working on and maintaining 7 social networking sites, 1 website (because I consolidated or deleted the other 8 in June 2013), and 3 businesses (writing, book cover design, and a Ranch) while trying to raise a young family and have a life outside of work. So the Book Shop has to be something I can maintain from my website dashboard, just like my social networks and my website. 😀

Loving Khyrsolia in estores

Loving Khyrsolia is officially out for the buying public. The full length novel can be found at  Smashwords ~ Barnes & Noble ~ Amazon.com ~ Amazon UK, not sure when it will reach the other estores, and is on sale for a limited time for $2.99. At the end of September it will be raised to my regular novel price for it’s length.

While I was hoping that I could have the print copy of this book ready for September release, I’m just not going to make that deadline. I still have to format and upload the files, then proof it one last time. It’ll be October before the print book will be out in stores. 😦

The Release of The Stagecoach Bride in December

I set up the sales page for this book on this website yesterday with an excerpt from the book. Last night I finished the revisions of this book. And this morning I’ll be sending the full novel to my co-author for editing. Then it will go out to our various beta readers. The projected release date for this Historical Western is set for December 2013.

Writing Death’s Lover in 2013

Death's Lover, Children of Khaos Series, Stephannie Beman, fantasy romance, based on greek mythology

This is the next book on my to-write list. I’ll be reading over my notes and chapter scenes that I have so far today, so I won’t be starting it until Monday next week. Between the cold and wrapping up haying, I don’t think it I could get to it before then.

I’m looking to get about 500 words in a day to start and bring it up to at least a 1000 by the second week of September. Hope to be writing 2000 a day, 5 days a week and have the whole novel done by the end of September. If I manage it with no snags, I should have it revised, edited, and beta read by the end of 2013. That will keep me on track for my February 2014 publishing deadline.

The Indie Author’s Business Plan

I’m a firm believer that writers should treat their writing like a business, which means a business plan. On another website I’ve made mention of the Author’s Business Plan and even wrote a few posts about it. Lately I’ve been creating a business planning booklet that is far simpler and easier to work up for career writers than a normal business plan and it’s more tailored to the Indie Author, because let’s face it, being an Indie author means that you’re wearing all the hats from writer to publisher to store and business manager to website maintainer to PR person, and all that is on top of other obligations and responsibilities such as work, family, friends, and life. It’s hard work.

This booklet is one that I hope to have out by December or January, but it’s also one that might not make my deadline. Since I haven’t really mentioned when I’d have this book out it not one that a lot of people are waiting for with bated breathe. However, if you are interested in knowing when the book will be released, please enter your email into the form below.

  1. Hi Steph, wishing you good luck with juggling ‘life’s responsibilities’ and your writing of course too. The tests, trials and tribulations,in fact, help you to gain confidence and strength … everything comes to those that wait. Timing is everything, yeah? Saw the cover with your name and Ruths together … crikey you both ( and Jo) are taking over the world ha ha …. Peace to all. D

    • Thank you. It’s been busy lately. Hopefully all the tests, trials, and tribulations will remain at a minimum so I can work. 😀

I’m looking forward to having the book of Ruth and mine out and starting the next 3 in the series. Plans for world domination are only at the beginning stages for the time being. LOL
