Letter to my Muse

Dear Muse,

How did you know? Or maybe I should be asking, why?

I was ready to quit for a while. I was going to give my fast pasted writing career a break. The girls will both be in school three years from now. I could devote a full eight hours to writing.

I should have known that you have the same fighting spirit as I do. I should have known that I have come too far to turn back now. I should have known you’d not allow it. You make life so difficult, but I would not do without you. You are the cool breeze that rushes in to protest, bringing a deluge of ideas crashing down upon my head. Sleeping Beauty. Eros and Psyche. Valkyries. Vampires. Little Red Riding Hood. Beauty and the Beast. Warriors and assassins. Sunken Cities. Bounty Hunters. Faerie Princes. Captive Queens. Dying races. Pandora’s box.

You’re such a lovely, sneaky bitch. You know how to use the advantage, where to hit, and when to press the button that places my butt into the seat. You know I can’t pass up a challenge.

Your ever devoted writer,
